ABOUT

Frederik Deschuytter is an Antwerp based speculative designer with a deep fascination for the endlessly evolving world around him.

He explores how our future might look like, and how these projections critically question our present. The relevance of this lies in the rapid acceleration of technology and the complexity of modern challenges that make our future difficult to behold. Central to this is the abstract and isolated nature of technological and scientific research, which tends to operate in industrial and academic vacuums.

By analysing, dismantling, and reformulating these topics, Frederik’s work aims to untangle their complexity and foster public debate about both their long-term implications and short-term reflections. In this process, design becomes a tool to explore, research, and visualise what is still intangible. As a result, it demystifies concepts that have yet to be put into words, but are crucial to confront.
