HUMAN LIVESTOCK

Written together with Pleun van Dijk, the visual essay Human Livestock was published in the second issue of VISIONS BY, an annual magazine that addresses the different perspectives on materiality and material cultures from a critical and speculative research focus.

Conceived as a fictional Wikipedia page, the essay is a parody of the earthly concept of (animal) Livestock. Exploring the human body as a source of materials that fuel an artificial ecosystem, the writing taps into future interplanetary scenarios on soon to be inhabited planets.

The essay is strongly connected to the thinking behind The Body Garden, a speculative project in collaboration with Pleun van Dijk.
